IARU Alumni Programme at Cambridge

Treasure houses and power houses: the University’s Museums and their role in the future.

Alumni of some of the world’s finest universities – members of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) group are invited to their own exclusive programme at the University of Cambridge, held in Madingley Hall. This exciting new venture brings together alumni from:

  • Australian National University
  • University of California, Berkeley
  • University of Cambridge
  • University of Copenhagen
  • ETH Zurich
  • University of Oxford
  • National University of Singapore
  • Peking University
  • Tokyo University
  • Yale University

The inaugural IARU Alumni programme takes an interdisciplinary approach to the treasures in the museums and collections of this University, investigating the holdings, the importance of the collections and their role in teaching and research nationally, internationally and within the University itself.

The Fitzwilliam Museum, Kettle’s Yard, The Scott Polar Museum, The Whipple Museum of the History of Science, The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, The Botanic Garden, The Sedgwick Museum of Geology…Cambridge is filled with treasure and treasure houses. We draw on these remarkable collections, with talks, private tours from Directors and other experts. In addition, evening talks from some of our teaching ‘gems’ take us into the realms of Cambridge’s ‘cutting edge’ contributions.

With like-minded people from these universities you hear the talks, and then continue your discussion and debate over breaks and meals from Madingley Hall’s award-winning catering team.

Alongside the academic programme we plan a range of social events and activities. There will also be free time for you to discover Cambridge for yourself.

For further details please see contact details below. Please note: this programme is only open to alumni of the ten IARU member institutions.
