Policing the Games
Fraser Woodward (Downing 1991)
As a volunteer Special Inspector with the Metropolitan Police I will be helping to manage the policing of the games. The 30,000 regular Met Police officers are supplemented by almost 6,000 volunteer police officers (specials) who have the same uniform and powers as regular police officers and will be giving up their spare time to help police the games. The Met will be relying heavily on its volunteers to cope with increased policing demands and it will be a great opportunity to put something back into the community and be part of a fantastic event. I've been a special for over 5 years and have policed the Royal Wedding, London Marathon and many other events, but the Olympics should hopefully top them all!
