The Boat Race is always a great family day out; with over 8 miles of towpath, there are numerous viewing positions along ‘The Championship Course’.

The Gemini Boat Race Official spectator areas are free to enter and offer excellent views and delicious street food and drinks.

Located in Fulham and Hammersmith within easy access to public transport hubs. More information can be found here.

Fan Parks

Join fellow Cambridge supporters on the Putney Embankment; unlike many sports events, fans are able to get close to the pre-race preparations.

  • Morning training from 07:30
  • Crew arrivals from 12:20 Women’s and 12:55 Men’s
  • The coin toss conducted by Boat Race Umpires
  • Women’s Coin Toss: 12:40 led by Olympian Richard Phelps 
  • Men’s Coin Toss: 13:15 led by Olympian Sir Matthew Pinsent
  • Give the crews a Light Blue cheer as they exit the boathouses from 14:00

Barnes, accessible by train, offers a number of wonderful pubs with views of the course.

Bring your own picnic to Dukes Meadow and watch the crews as they race past the Band Stand in the closing stages of each race.

Chiswick Bridge offers great vantage points if you’re interested in an overhead view of the course.

Or book your place at The Ship Pub in Mortlake to watch the finish.

We are delighted to share that you will shortly be able to purchase and wear with pride a range of clothing inspired by The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race.  The online shop will ensure your order is delivered anywhere in the world in time for the 78th Women's and 169th Men's Boat Race. A portion of the proceeds on all sales supports Cambridge University Boat Club and its athletes.

The Gemini Boat Race 2024 Poster

Inspired by the iconic 1924 Boat Race produced by Underground Electric Railway Company, this year's poster in an art-deco style incorporates modern twists, reflecting a city that’s undergone dramatic change over the past 100 years. With a vibrant, joyous crowd and a skyline featuring iconic course landmarks as well as tipping its hat to the Race’s London roots, this poster will feel at home on any wall.

Broadcast Coverage 

The Boat Race continues to attract global audiences, and there will be opportunities for fans all around the world to watch The Boat Race live.  For many countries, this will be done via specific national broadcasters. Stay up to date on domestic and international broadcast details. Spectators will be able to view live coverage and recordings on the Boat Race YouTube Channel, pending any regional restrictions.
